Don’t Stop the Music!

Music Lessons

The normal timetable of music lessons continues this summer term, despite it being impossible to teach students face to face.

As well as our full timetable of lower school class music lessons, GSCE groups and BTEC groups our wonderful team of peripatetic music teachers have stepped up to the virtual challenge and every week Mr Archer is teaching Guitar and Drums, Mr Painter is teaching Singing and Musical Theatre, Mrs Jordan-Rowell is teaching Piano and Strings, Mr Revell is teaching Brass, Mr Halliday is teaching Woodwind and Mrs Moore is teaching Piano.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Staff and students virtually came together to sing and record ‘Over The Rainbow’, as well as showcase some of their artwork, to spread some positive cheer!

The idea came from Mrs Christie, Head of Music, who worked very hard in putting all of the individual recordings together!

Mrs Christie, said: “We have all been missing our collective music making at NCW, so I thought it would be lovely to have a music project that could bring our whole school community together whilst we are physically spread around the country.”

A great example of our NCW pulling together!

Music Clubs for Wellbeing

As we have found across the whole World, music plays such an important role in seeing us through difficult times so it is more important than ever that music continues to feature in our online timetable.

Musical Theatre Club, chats about music and a weekly Open Mic night are all part of the provision that the Music Department, Care Staff and Activities Team are offering to students. Staff can also join to share the love of their favourite music.
