NCW Celebrates Former Student Chris McCausland’s Stunning Victory on BBC Strictly

The NCW community across the country is thrilled to congratulate former student Chris McCausland on his remarkable performances and ultimate victory in BBC Strictly! We are all so proud of Chris and the path he is paving for vision-impaired dancers for generations to come.

Chris’ success is not only a testament to his talent but also his determination and ability to inspire others. His journey on Strictly has captivated audiences and demonstrated that limitations are meant to be overcome.

One retired NCW House Parent fondly recalls a young Chris from Liverpool, who joined Fletcher House in the late 1980s as a lively and spirited 11-year-old.

“He was such a kind and caring little chappie, always with a lot to say! I remember his Liverpool football scarf – he wore it everywhere, even to bed! He was brilliant at English.”

The House Parent shared warm memories of Chris, from his entrepreneurial streak selling conkers around campus to a memorable strawberry-picking trip:

“I took him strawberry picking once, and instead of filling his basket, he sat on the ground eating them until he made himself ill!”

While Chris returned home to Liverpool after his short time at NCW, his charm, humour, and ambition left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Chris’s journey from the little boy with big dreams to Strictly champion is a story of resilience, talent and heart. NCW couldn’t be prouder of his achievements and the inspiration he brings to the vision-impaired community and beyond.

Congratulations, Chris – you’ve made us all incredibly proud!
