We are proud to partner with charities that support our mission of empowering young blind and vision-impaired students. Together, we help them build confidence, self-esteem and the skills they need for life beyond our College.

Recently we welcomed our charity partner Look UK into college to run a workshop for our Sixth Form Students. Ruth, Megan and Pippa delivered a workshop about self-advocacy and its importance as a young person with a vision impairment. Self-advocacy is imperative for any young person, but especially for those with sight loss that require additional support and help, whether that is in education, employment or the community – being able to speak up for yourself is a life-long skill.

Thank you Look UK for your continued support.

Look UK came to NCW to inspire our sixth formers with the powers of self-advocacy. In an engaging, hands-on session, students got moving, tackled real-life scenarios, and heard powerful stories from the charity's incredible VI volunteers. By the end, our students walked away with not just a confidence boost, but a useful toolkit of self-advocacy skills to help them take on the world beyond NCW.

Look UK were delighted to be back at NCW. Connecting with students in their sixth form to discuss the vital topic of self advocacy and how a Peer Mentor can support their preparation for H.E led to fascinating discussion. We were joined by LOOK Mentor Pippa, having this relatability, shared lived experience and space to exchange ideas was thoroughly constructive. We were blown away by the energy and participation of the NCW students and will be excited to return in 2025.
