Student-led concert wows the audience

On Wednesday evening, NCW students took over the chapel and hosted an incredible evening full of musical delights and surprises.

At NCW, we encourage students to be actively involved in after school activities and we are always keen to hear from the students what activities they would like. There are regular pizza nights, film nights, karaoke nights, well-being evenings and even open mic nights all running alongside a packed programme of activities run by our Activity Department.

When students Roman and Natalie approached Mr Farr (Vice Principal) and asked if they could arrange a student-led concert in the chapel, of course, the answer was “YES!”  Roman and Natalie quickly set to work and before long a carefully curated programme of 15 musical contributions was formed. The performers ranged from the Lower School to Year 13 plus and everyone was supported and encouraged to be part of the event. From Miss Saigon, Dear Evan Hanson, Six – The Musical to Lincoln Park – the concert covered an eclectic mix of genres all chosen by students.

The performers wowed the audience of staff and fellow students. There was laughter, tears and cheers. One member of staff said, “This is why NCW is special, to see the students come together as a community and support each other in the way they do, utterly amazing. We are so proud of them.”

Well done students! We look forward to many more incredible concerts in the future!
