The European Para Youth Games (EPYG) returned this year for the first time since 2019, taking place between 27 June and 4 July in Finland.
Making up the Great Britain U19s Women’s Goalball Squad was Yr 11 student and Goalball newcomer, Ciara!
This year’s games were hosted at the Pajulahti Olympic and Paralympic Training Centre in Finland, and welcomed over 500 athletes from 29 countries. The EPYG is an international, multi-sport competition for athletes with a disability. Competing here has been for many the first step on their journey to the highest level of their sport – including our own NCW student, Ciara.
In addition to Goalball, EYPG has seen competitors fight for the title in Athletics, Swimming, Boccia, Table Tennis, Wheelchair Basketball, Judo and Showdown.
Great Britain Women took on their opponents from Israel and Turkey, with a total of 5 games played. All teams performed incredibly well, with Great Britain taking home Bronze.

It’s a very exciting time for the future for these young people.
