On Monday 2 May, NCW held it’s bi-annual Family Day – a fun, free event for families and young people with vision impairment.
Family Day is a great opportunity for families to get involved in lots of different activities that are accessible to VI young people. The day included tandem riding, alpacas, The Animal Man, a silent disco, bouncy castle, water zorbing and more!
Workshops such as Independent Living Skills, Spanish, Maths and English were also on offer so that visitors could get a taste for how some subjects are taught at NCW and have a go themselves.
In addition, Nathan Davies from HCB Group was invited to talk to families about advocacy and the student journey to NCW, and charities such as VICTA, Guide Dogs, Sight Concern and RSBC were on hand to offer advice and information.
The day ran really successfully with over 30 families attending, and with many young people trying activities that they never had before!
