NCW were humbled to attend a day at the Sixways Worcester Warriors Stadium last month to gain insight into the development and scope of Blind Rugby coaching.

On Tuesday 15 June, NCW were invited to attend the day ran by the Warriors Community Foundation alongside British Blind Sport, The Change Foundation and representatives from Premiership Rugby.

The Warriors Foundation has been developing the adapted version of Rugby for blind people and those with a vision impairment (formally called Hugby) over the last 4 years. NCW is really proud to have been involved in the various stages of developing the inclusive game, and students have really thrived in building relationships with the foundation. 

The Blind Rugby Introduction Day was a fantastic opportunity for Worcester Warriors to share the concept of the game with every Premiership Club, with the ambitious plan to develop it nationwide. The day was made up of various informative talks around coaching VI Sports and Rugby, and lots of open discussions for attendees to share their ideas and opinions to help support the growth of the game.

It was great to meet and network with other charities and representatives, and it wouldn’t have been a true day at the Warriors without a few games on the pitch!

We are looking forward to seeing how Blind Rugby develops and is shared across both the VI Community and the Premiership!
