Ofsted Celebrations!
Following an eagerly anticipated visit from Ofsted to inspect our Education provision at NCW we are absolutely delighted that NCW was recognised to be Outstanding or Good in all five categories!
The judgements were as follows:
- The quality of education: Good
- Behaviour and attitudes: Outstanding
- Personal development: Outstanding
- Leadership and management: Good
- Sixth-form provision: Good
The report holds some wonderful observations which truly reflect the incredible staff, students and our wider community of parents, carers and stakeholders. Inspectors wrote:
“This school inspires, nurtures, and empowers pupils to succeed both in their education and in later life. It maintains high expectations for all pupils, including those in the sixth form. Staff give careful consideration to the needs of pupils with visual impairments. This allows pupils to thrive. Parents and carers view the school as a community.
The report identifies strength in the curriculum for all year groups, the skill of the teaching staff and that learning is made accessible to all students appropriately for their visual impairment. It is noted that our aspirations for the students are high and that we support students to achieve their career aspirations. It is recognised that we are preparing students well for adulthood through our independent living skills curriculum and that mental and physical health are well supported here. At the heart of all we do are our wonderful students who demonstrate daily their positivity, resilience, determination and their love for life.
After a challenging couple of years, we are absolutely thrilled that the hard work, positive attitude and tireless dedication to our cause has led us to this point and we are very excited for the future of NCW as we continue to grow and improve in everything we do. Thank you to everyone for their continued support with that journey.
