Inspiring, nurturing and empowering young people with a vision impairment.

New Fundraising Ambassador

We are delighted to announce that Kathy Winnell has joined the NCW fundraising team as an Ambassador.  Kathy has a really strong networking background and will be helping to develop NCW’s corporate relationships. Kathy is well known in Worcester business networking circles for her upbeat and positive attitude. She fell in love with the college on her first visit and found the students to be truly inspirational.

Kathy has a background in performing arts and feels that self confidence is a key aspect to a young person reaching their personal goals. She feels that the school is a unique place where those with sight loss are given the tools to empower them towards functioning in a world set up for those with sight.

Ironically, just two weeks after her first visit to NCW, she suffered a mini stroke which left her with partial sight in her right eye and has led to a real understanding of how precious our vision is.

Kathy says “The staff at NCW are truly remarkable, ensuring the needs of each child as an individual are met including those needs of any additional disability. I have always had an interest in assisting young people to achieve their potential, I believe each person has a niche and I feel that NCW seeks out each person’s individual talent and develops it. The students I met during my visit were brimming with self confidence and had a really positive attitude towards life.”

She is looking forward to working closely with the fundraising team to raise awareness of NCW and vision impairment in young people.
